Tell us about your experience of moving to universal credit

The government is moving some benefit claimants onto universal credit through a process called ‘managed migration’.

Child Poverty Action Group (CPAG) works to end child poverty in the UK. A key part of our work is researching ways that the government can enable families to access the benefits they are entitled to.

We want to understand the difficulties people face with the managed migration process and how people adjust to universal credit. We will use our evidence to make recommendations to the government about how the process can be improved.

Can you help?

If you've received a notice from the Department for Work and Pensions informing you that you need to claim universal credit we'd like to speak to you. 

We want to understand the experiences of all claimants – not just those with children.

What does it involve?

We will ask you to take part in a phone or online interview for approximately one hour. The interviewer will ask you about your experience with the managed migration process.

You'll receive a £25 voucher as a thank you for your time.

Will my information be kept confidential?

Any information collected about you will be treated confidentially and anonymised. In exceptional circumstances, the interviewer may be duty-bound to share information, for example, if they are concerned about your safety or the safety of others.

We are also keen to speak to welfare rights advisers working with people going through managed migration.

If you have supported someone affected by managed migration you can tell us about your case. Every case sent to us is carefully considered to inform our briefings and recommendations to the DWP.
