Pupils in the school Digital Leaders group set up a questionnaire for parents and carers, analysed the responses and gave the information to senior management. Head Teacher Audrey Ross concedes that in the past parents might have been a little resistant to coming forward for help, and that this ‘dignity issue’ created barriers. However, when the survey came from pupils rather than teaching staff it helped overcome some of those kinds of issues.
This is just one way in which the school has been trying to make connections, reduce costs and support their children and families. Staff now report seeing more parents and carers willing to request and accept help when it's needed.
